Nick and I had a friend visit recently and we took him to one of our favorite spots, the Crawdad Hole. Talk about a locals joint! This was the second time that Nick and I had been, having gone several weeks prior with Nick's parents. Either way, Crawdads.... or crawfish... or mudbugs... are still new to me, and they were new to our friend Dan too. The cost per bucket varies, but generally is around 5 bucks a pound. Nick can easily eat 7 pounds, but we normally start with 5 pounds. Most of my photos are fuzzy from this night because I was laughing so much as Nick was explaining how to eat a Crawfish/dad/bug....whatever. Rip the tail from the head, suck the juice out of the head, remove some legs, grab the meat between your teeth, grab the base of the tail..... and pull. Easy, right? Well, I have to say they are much better than I initially thought they were going to be, but shew! they are a LOT of work! Now that the mosquitos are coming out in full force, we may put off going again until the fall, but I'm already looking forward to it!
