Watching and Waiting.....

I'm still going through photos that I took at the Great Bear Rainforest, and as I'm doing so, I am constantly reminded of how all the wildlife there was dependent on the salmon run and not just the hungry grizzly bears. The seagulls were in heaven, eating the fish the bears threw out-- which was plentiful.  I guess I always associate seagulls and sea lions with being at the beach and hearing the waves. It was weird to see them, in the depths of the forest.  The three amigos I photographed were sitting on a large floating log and appeared to be floating at the top of the water. We spotted them from about a hundred yards away and slowly we motored up to them in our boat. With the backdrop of the mountains, it was weird to say they belonged there. It was a constant reminder that although we weren't too far from the ocean, this was like no place I had ever been to before.

The bald eagles were a treat. Never quite close enough to get a great photo, but a magnificent bird to watch. This bald eagle was spotted our last day way down the river....watching and waiting for his next meal.

  1. My favorite is the "three amigos" shot. The light was perfect and the Fstop you chose blurred the background perfectly. That's a money shot in my book.
